Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET)

how to get pregnant for women

Frozen Embryo Transfer

A Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) involves thawing previously frozen embryos from an earlier fresh mini IVF cycle (or from a donor egg cycle) and subsequently transferring them into a woman's uterus.

Why choose Frozen Embryo Transfer?

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) increases implantation rates and improves obstetrical outcomes. FET allows for a better connection between the placenta and the mother. In addition, frozen cycles, compared to fresh transfer cycles, result in a higher birth weight and reduced risk of prematurity.

Embryos can be cryopreserved (frozen) until your hormone levels return to a more natural and receptive state, usually during the next cycle, resulting in optimal timing and a more natural transfer experience.

Preparing for Frozen Embryo Transfer

FET preparation involves blood tests and ultrasound monitoring to establish the optimal implantation time. You may also be given hormone medications to increase your chances of conception.

FET does not require sedation and is an outpatient procedure. After the transfer, there is minimal downtime, discomfort, or other side effects. Since frozen embryos remain viable for well over ten years, you can schedule implantation when the timing is right.

With large trials and published data from fertility programs around the world, Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET) is now the standard of care for all mini IVF patients.

Genetic Testing with FET

Pre-implantation genetic Testing for Aneuploidy (PGT-A) identifies the healthiest embryos before implantation. Embryos with too few or too many chromosomes or are imbalanced often result in miscarriage or a failed IVF cycle.

Pearl exclusively uses Juno Genetics, as they are dedicated to advancing embryonic research, diagnosis, and education outcomes.
